We had a great weekend! We spent the day yesterday at the church working with the patches for our 2007 banner for church. Our church has a wonderful tradition, I guess you could say, in that we "patch" people for accomplishments, "patch" events, and special days, etc... These banners allow our kids and our congregation to feel a part of the church--to see themselves actually in writing on the banner--to feel important in the church community. I have posted a couple of pictures of our banners so that you can see and understand what we are talking about. It is a wonderful way of sharing our lives together and also to be able to remember. :)
Because a number of things we had gotten behind on our banner patch making and pinning. So yesterday about 10 of us got together, made patches, rehung banners, repaired old banners and patches and just had a fun day visiting. Today we had a potluck and were able to hang all of the 2007 patches that had been missed, honoring those that were "patched" and we also introduced our new 2008 banner. Ida and Richard were here visiting from Uganda and got to pin the first patch on our new banner. We were so blessed by having them with us today as missionaries from Uganda.
Tonight we came home and had a family movie time as we watched the new Alvin and Chipmunks together. A cute movie. The kids loved it of course. Paul and I watched and enjoyed watching them enjoy it! Tonight I am having fun catching up on blogging while Paul is enjoying a good book and our kids are fast asleep. Life is good right now :)
