On the way to Costco yesterday we saw this huge nest on top of a telephone pole along Marine Drive (the road that follows the Columbia River). I find it so interesting that a bird would choose to put a nest up on top of a telephone pole with nothing else around--and also with the wind on the Columbia being so strong--I would be afraid my babies would fall. We got some great picture of the mommy and daddy at the nest. Not sure if the babies have hatched or if they are even there yet--but they were staying pretty close to the nest! If any one knows anything about why they build their nests up on top of a telephone pole with no protection around please enlighten me! :)
